Pilirani Chuma

Pilirani Chuma (Mrs) is the Managing Partner of Macdonald & Don Associates, a firm she founded in 2019 to provide integrated, efficient, and effective legal services across civil, criminal, corporate, and commercial practice.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Malawi and was admitted to the Malawi Bar in 2008. Her advanced studies include a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Trade Law from Stellenbosch University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from ESAMI, and a Master in Communications Management (MCM) from New Buckinghamshire University in the UK.

Her career spans over 15 years of legal practice and leadership. She began with Bernhard & Harris in Blantyre, gaining experience in civil litigation, financial and commercial advisory, and drafting instruments for domestic and international transactions. In 2011, she joined Telekom Networks Malawi Plc (TNM), where she served as Head of Legal Services and Company Secretary for TNM Mpamba Limited until 2019.

Beyond practice, Mrs. Chuma has contributed to legal education as a part‑time lecturer at the University of Malawi (2020–2024) and Catholic University of Malawi (2017–2020). She is an active member of the Malawi Law Society and the Women’s Law Association, where she has represented women in pro bono cases addressing the intersection of cultural and legal rights.

Her leadership at Macdonald & Don Associates reflects a commitment to excellence, client trust, and advancing the legal profession in Malawi.

Mphatso Nkhata

Mphatso Nkhata is an Associate Attorney at Macdonald and Don Associates, distinguished by his strong legal acumen and client-centered approach to legal practice. He has a passion for Arbitration and Children's Rights Law. He handles matters across Family Law, Employment and Labour Law, Land Law, Commercial Law and Criminal Law; bringing meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to justice to every case he undertakes.

Since joining the firm as an intern in 2025, he has developed solid practical experience in legal research and analysis, drafting of legal documents, and constructing sound legal arguments before tribunals and courts. Complemented by certifications in Fraud Analysis and Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Mphatso brings a sharp analytical perspective to complex legal matters. Beyond his legal practice, he remains a steadfast child rights activist, reaffirmed by his distinguished service as President Emeritus of the UNIMA Child Rights Clinic. His well-rounded thoughtful approach to legal practice makes him not only a skilled attorney, but also a trusted advocate and partner in your corner.

Eluness Msukwa

Eluness Msukwa holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the University of Malawi which she obtained in 2024. She also holds a Certificate in Couple Counselling from Mkange Institute Mental Health Resource centre, Zambia which she obtained in 2025. She joined Macdonald and Don Associates in 2024 as an intern and she is currently working as a Legal Associate. 

She carries out legal research and representation for clients in a variety of areas for example, matrimonial matters and employment disputes. She is very passionate about Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) with special interest in mediation. She serves as a member of the Malawi Media Lawyers Network, as a Legal Intern at Gender and Justice Unit (Malawilii and 348toinfinity) and as a Legal advisor for her church in Chileka, Blantyre

Luntha Mbvundula

Luntha Mbvundula is a Malawian legal practitioner at Macdonald and Don Associates whose work sits at the intersection of litigation, human rights, and access to justice. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Malawi, she has built her practice at the firm grounded in rigorous legal research, sharp drafting, and direct client advocacy in an array of cases. She concurrently serves with the Gender Justice Unit and MalawiLii, working to make legal materials and the histories of notable Malawian women freely accessible online.

She has further invested in the future of the profession through specialised training with the University of Cambridge in child rights law, the Erline Bradshaw Foundation’s Femme Lex programme in legal technology, AI ethics, and policy entrepreneurship, and the University of Maryland through which she developed advocacy strategies across litigation, regulatory, and legislative contexts in environmental law. Luntha brings to every matter the same qualities that have defined her journey: independence, creativity, and an unrelenting drive to solve complex problems to the client’s satisfaction.

Bertha Botha

Bertha provides essential administrative support that keeps the firm running smoothly. With strong organizational skills and attention to detail, she manages documentation, scheduling, and client communications with efficiency and professionalism. Her dedication ensures that both clients and counsel experience seamless service, making her a valued cornerstone of the team.
